Attraction:
Beyond Singapore
If further exploration is
required, visiting some places beyond Singapore will grant your
desire. The Malay Peninsula is a popular spot for tourists; Riau
Islands is mostly visited by those who head to Indonesia; Batam
Island, a two-thirds the size of Singapore; and Bintan Island, a
most popular island in Riau.
Malay
Peninsula
Malay Peninsula lies between the
Andaman Sea of the Indian Ocean and the Strait of Malacca on the
West and the Gulf of Thailand and the South China Sea of the
east.
Malaysia's west coast offers
many worthy sights like museums, architecture, hill resorts,
history, and remarkable beaches. A stop at Kuala Lumpur and
Malacca can lead you to the exploration of the Cameron
Highlands, Penang, Peranakan architecture, Chinese Temples,
mountain vistas, and deserted beaches which are unquestionably
worth the visit. Besides, the east coast of Malaysia provides
remote beaches and islands sited in a traditional atmosphere.
The highlights are Tioman Island, Cherating, Rantau Abang, Pulau
Perhentian, and Kota Baru close to the Thai border. In addition,
a visit at Taman Negara National Park would be grand as it is
the Malaysia's largest national park.
Riau Islands
Riau is a heartland of the Malays
and the cradle of Indonesia's Malay-based national language and
culture. It has also been a haven to ships plying for many
centuries. Apart from being a business island, it is as well a
money-maker for Indonesia as it does attract visitors and
tourists from all over the world.
The two vivid islands rated
worthy the visit are Batam and Bintan Islands, protruding from
other spots. The islands offer superb beaches, coral gardens,
and sunken freighters of scuba divers, small fishing kampongs
mounted on rickety platforms, historical sights, seafood
restaurants, and distinctive accommodations. Both Batam and
Bintan islands have spared some spaces for airport where you can
get flights to many destinations in Indonesia.
