Attraction:
North Singapore
Singapore's government has engaged
the northern districts for natural reserves and public parks.
The forest has been cleared for roads and residences due to the
growth of population. Also, the recreation places had to be
constructed as well as to serve the community. In the north of
Singapore, interesting public parks and natural reserves can be
visited such as Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, Mandai Orchid
Gardens, Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, Sungei Buloh Nature Park,
and Temples and Villas.
Singapore
Zoo
The Singapore Zoo's settings have
been rated most beautiful in the world. It is sited on a
promontory beset by still waters of the Seletar Reservoir, with
the dense secondary forest beyond creating a breathtaking
backdrop.
The jaded, lush garden of the
Singapore Zoo, together with the lovely landscaping, spectacular
views of the Seletar Reservior make the Singapore Zoo the most
tempting place that worth a visit. It was opened since 1973 in
the 28-hectare area in which more than 250 species of animals
live.

Singapore Zoological Garden,
80 Mandai Lake Road,
Singapore 729826

Night Safari
The Night Safari covers 40
hectares and is divided into East and West Loops. There are
about 1,000 animals from 100 species living in this wide safari
surrounded by Upper Seletar Reservoir. Animals here are ninety
percent awake at night. During the day, almost all of wildlife
would sleep or appear extremely sleepy. As a result, you can go
watching them at night and see what do they do for routine
activities.

Mandai Orchid
Gardens
A privately owned Orchid Gardens

heading to Singapore Zoo as everything is convenient here,
especially the entry admission costs only S$2 for adults. Here
you can order some plants as well as just enjoy eyeing them.

Bukit Timah
Nature Reserve
Nature and human come together
while the city life might turn you worn out. Just step into
Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and enjoy nature in its pristine form
for your health's sake both mentally and physically. This
164-hectare Reserve includes Singapore's highest hill at 164 m
and retains the only substantial area of primary rainforest left
in Singapore.
You can also see some small
animals in this Reserve although almost all Singapore's forests
have been cleared at some point in history. Sad but true, no
large native animals are left here because they were disturbed
in the past. Anyway, long-tailed Macaques will greet you there
and keen observers may find the Common Treeshrew, the Flying
Lemur, and also Pangolin or Ant-eater if you are lucky enough.

Sungei Buloh
Nature Park
The park was designated a natural
reserve by the Ministry of National Development in 1989. This
87-hectare park is made up of mangrove mudflats, brackish water
ponds, and freshwater ponds. Mangrove trees, a fast-disappearing
flora of Singapore characterize the plant life of the park. It
is also a good stop for migratory birds, and is as well a home
for kingfishers, doves, bee-eaters, tailorbirds, woodpeckers,
and munias.
A pair of binocular is
essential for watching those birds' routine activities,
varieties, and behaviors.
