Procedure simplified on
self-help tour for Chinese travelers to Singapore
Issued: 31 July 2003
It is good news for Chinese visitors planning to travel to
Singapore as the red-tape procedure was simplified. Tourists can
ask travel agency to handle individual visa affairs for them
instead of going to the Singapore consulate themselves. The action
aims to enhance the Singapore self-help tourism market.
The new experimented
practice allows travel agencies to act as guarantor for individual
travelers without requirement of invitation letters. Three
tentative cities to apply the procedure include Beijing, Shanghai
and Guangzhou.
Visa fee cost US$12,
the same as before, with 7-10 working days needed for travel
agencies to handle visa affairs.
Singapore was one of the first nations to be approved as a
destination for Chinese travelers. China has so far become an
important tourist source nation for Singapore.
